We collaborate on law enforcement, including at the border, and share information to track known threats. At home and abroad, Canada’s military men and women serve alongside their U.S. peers, leading in the global fight against terrorism, responding to humanitarian and natural disasters, and protecting vulnerable communities from acts of aggression. There is no better example of our exceptional relationship than the North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD), which celebrated its 65th anniversary in 2023.
In fact, Canadian Army, Navy, and Air Force officers are embedded throughout the U.S. military at all levels – protecting and defending our shared continent in search and rescue operations, interdiction of illegal narcotics, and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions.
