The Business Council of Canada was in Washington, DC recently to talk about Canada-U.S. trade, and in particular, how USMCA will benefit the North American economy. They were joined by Business Roundtable and Consejo Coordinador Empresarial, as well as 15 CEOs representing some of the largest companies in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.
One of their key messages: the North American business community is ready to work with all three governments to ratify the USMCA. When implemented, USMCA will generate significant new benefits for North America, spurring new investments while encouraging the creation of well-paying jobs.
“North American Business leaders support the timely ratification of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). The USMCA is a high-standard, comprehensive trade agreement that will make North America more competitive, drive investment and support jobs,” said Goldy Hyder, President and CEO of the Business Council of Canada. “USMCA will improve the trade relationship by modernizing long-outdated elements of the North American Free Trade Agreement. Above all, it provides certainty for our region’s economic success.”
