On April 18, The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) released its assessment of the USMCA, concluding the new deal will increase U.S. GDP by $68.2 billion, and increase U.S. exports to Canada by $19.1 billion. The agreement is also expected to have a positive impact on many sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing and services.
Earlier this month, Canadian Deputy Ambassador Kirsten Hillman met with The Trade Guys from the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS) to share Canada’s view of how USMCA will benefit North America. She talked about the progressive elements of the USMCA, and how Canada should be immediately exempted from Section 232 steel and aluminum tariffs. Listen to the podcast:
